about

Premiere EP from Bows.

Bows' newest single, "Shed a Tear", is meant to transport you, the listener, to a faraway place with the band's hallmark soundscapes. Featuring a blend of organic and synthesized sonic elements, the track serves as a stylistic bridge between earlier singles and the duo's forthcoming debut LP. According to songwriter/singer Kaila McIntyre-Bader, the new record (targeted for release in Q1 of 2016) will be a concept album telling the story of a post-apocalyptic space adventure and will draw on the band’s evolving use of motivic repetition and immersive sonic environments with a grounding in the catchy pop hooks that have been the mainstay of Bows all along.

Bows is the brainchild of Kaila McIntyre-Bader and Luke Bace, formerly of Brooklyn-born and SF based indie-pop group Big Tree. The duo was originally conceived out of circumstance: just before departing with Big Tree on a CMJ bound tour, McIntyre-Bader broke both of her elbows in a biking accident. The incident forced McIntyre-Bader to find alternative means to write and record new music while she recovered, leading to an exploration of many of the sonic fundamentals that now define Bows. Despite being born of unfortunate circumstance, the duo's short existence has already shown great promise; their first live performance was to a sold out crowd opening for Misterwives at the Independent in San Francisco, and their songs have already been placed on shows like MTV's "Finding Carter."
